There is nothing new. When I was in 4th medical we were taken to a water purifying installation at Rajendra Nagar, Patna, that existed then. The professor explained all the steps and we were allowed to drink purified water after purification. Unfortunately, we have lost  our past wisdom, and now are looking for solutions. This applies not only to purification of water but also preservation. Potable water scarcity is the result, and since water bodies have gone dry it has led to water scarcity.
