Dear Dr. Sharma, your concern is so valid. From my own observations while being in South India earlier this year, the solution is a combination of education (simple hygiene practices such as avoiding open defecation, washing hands), community involvement installing sanitary equipment such as toilets (notably Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak from Sulabh International), and lastly actual water purification using affordable, sustainable, and low maintenance solutions, such as the Merlin ECO system, which I have introduced on my AquaSPE landing page. For full disclosure, I do not have any ownership or interest in Merlin ECO, just happen to know its founder and met his first customer. As I was impressed with its affordability, test results in the lab and in the field, the idea is to build a local eco system by building an assembly and training Franchise in India to further reduce cost ("Make in India").
