Dear Veronika, as Dion said, for pilot-scale beds we usually use plastic tanks/containers (~1000 L or bigger), after cutting their top. This is an easy and relatively cheap solution. If you can afford building something bigger, it would enhance the credibility of the experiment of course. Concerning the type of the system and related design parameters (e.g., dimensions, applie load etc) we need information about the type/origin of the wastewater, the level of treatment in the previous wwtp and effluent data.
