Anti-Scalant for RO unit

Regarding the use of anti-scalant for RO units, I was wondering what the best way is to evaluate an anti-scalant product quality to be used in a new-built unit or a new product to be replaced an old product in an in-operation unit?

If you have a complete physicochemical analysis of the raw water, the type of membrane to be used and all the operating parameters for the RO system, a computer simulation can be run to determine the best scale inhibitor and dosage for that system. Some water treatment companies or consultants  have software developed for this task.
