Are you aware of large-scale experience with the use of horizontal directionally drilled well intakes for collection of seawater for membrane desalination and what is your experience with it? Thank you.
Hi Judith:
HDD Wells have found relativley limited application in large desalnation projects - most of such systems are located in Spain and have mixed success. In order for a project employing such wells to be successful, the intake area has to have favorabe geotechnical conditions - limestone formations are most suitable.
