I agree with you: organic matter was widely used by the Elders to fertilize crops and prevent soil erosion, as well as land desertification. Fertile grounds are generally lumpier and darker when compared to soils degraded by mechanical tillage or agrochemicals. The next generation of farmers should seriously reconsider introducing organic matter or compost in their cultivation practices. Compost can be home-made by recycling plant material.
