The technique use here is very economical and need no technical support. But does the water going to the wells are pure enough to drink? As the filters can just take the debris out but not the other content. Otherwise, for the heavy rainfall area where they need to conserve water for rest of the year the technique looks good. Thanks Brien for writing this blogpost. Is this place is in southern part of India?

Hi Christine, Because the water goes into the well I wouldn't recommend drinking it without further filtration or at least boiling it. And yes, Kerala is in the south-west of India. Thanks for the comment.
