Consumption of unsafe drinking water affects the health of communities and has an impact on morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Access to safe drinking water is a basic need and is essential to health. I fully trust that the most effective means of consistently ensuring the safety of drinking water supply is through the use of a comprehensive risk assessment and management approach, that encompasses all steps in water supply from catchment to consumer. Such approaches are called Water Safety Plans (WSPs). In India govt has started following WHO guidelines and pilot projects are started at two main metros. I am sure that other developing countries fighting with water and sanitation problems will get benefited when they will follow WSP.
