Hello Kae. In Brazil, For WATER (potability) treatment, all the classical (fisical ans chemical ones - Coagulation, floculation, clarification, filtration and desinfection) methods. But we use also OR, Advanced oxidation, deionization, eletrctro deionization; micro, ultra and nanofiltration... etc. it will depend on the special need of each process/contaminant to be removed. All depends on polluted water, the type of pollution and the objectives of the treatment: chemical or biological. More the share of time filtration removes largest all that is visible. Then the odor of pollution can be a factor of treatment such as the heating or the dispersion of products. Disinfection and sterilization. Then to make analyses to try to find the type of pollution which will determine the type of treatment.
