Dear Diana, I agree with you to a certain extent. In my opinion two things are key to battle water scarcity. 1- Increasing the efficiency of water use across all sectors (agricultural, industrial, and municipal) through use of drip irrigation, installing water meters, etc.. 2-Using wastewater treatment as a major source of water. In my opinion wastewater treatment is the future. wastewater will never run out and will only grow as the population grows. Furthermore, if wastewater treatment is invested in and utilized correctly, wastewater treatment can supply a variety of benefits (energy production, fertilizer production, and waste reduction) other than supplying water. Both have to be applied together otherwise water scarcity will only be delayed and not solved.
