Almost all the projects have impacts on the environment, with proper mitigation measure impacts can be controlled and minimized. Based on the scale of the project impacts are classified into severe and moderate/permanent and temporary. Hence there are CRZ laws enacted by MoEF.

Coming to desalination plant, it impacts are there on the marine ecology. As the water will be pumped to the treatment plant, some area around the plant will have severe and permanent impact to the organisms of the marine ecosystem.

 

EIA report of the desalination plant will give more information.
