Pine Island project built to put brakes on polluted stormwater

The first construction phase is finished on a $4 million Pine Island Conservation Area stormwater project designed to combat pollution and flooding, where previously untreated rainwater from a 5,970-acre drainage basin south of Kennedy Space Center poured into the Indian River Lagoon from a series of canals.
