There are several advantages of using RO after BX exchange providing that suspended solids don't get carried through and cause blockage of membranes.  The other issue can be a source of iron and manganese in the water supply.  It certainly reduces chemical usage due to increased cycles of concentration and definitely reduces condensate corrosion.  There are a water qualities where there is little benefit i.e low natural alkalinity, low hardness and low dissolved solids.  There is quite a high reject level of water, but if this can be used for sanitary or other uses then none of the water is wasted.
