Water Stress in India

A trip to rural India in Q1 2017 emphasized the need for frugal water innovation. Lack of water, and the poor sanitary conditions of water when available, are calling for measures to ensure the livelihood of the local population. Its impact on health, the local economy, and environment are apparent. Once a thriving business, coconuts are now scarce due to the 50% deforestation of palm trees, due to severe draught conditions. Interestingly, it also showed the power of passion and community engagement, to successfully implement a river rejuvenation project under time and budget compared to a poorly executed Government driven project.
