Marc Etienne, Hydrogeologist - Hydrogeophysicist
About
Since April 2014, I have been an independent consultant in groundwater and soil studies as well as managing international projects in water resources. I possess over 19 years of consulting experience in various aspects of hydrogeology, hydrogeophysics and workgroup management of water resources in several countries of the Americas and Europe. I have provided services to the government sector, both municipal and provincial, completing more than 25 municipal groundwater supply projects in Quebec, Canada. I have also conducted studies on water supply systems as well as environmental characterizations in the industrial sector. Over the last 3 years, I have participated as Head of Mission, technical director and groundwater expert for two water resources projects in Haiti, for IABD and USAID funds respectively. Between 1998 and 1999, and again in the last four years I have developed my expertise particularly in the mining industry, where I participated in technical studies from scoping to feasibility level and in environmental impact studies (EIA) in Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Chile and French Guiana. In August 2010, I was solicited by AMEC Foster Wheeler to build and develop a Water Resources team in Lima, Peru. In 2012, I led a team of 12 people including civil engineers (hydraulic), hydrologists and hydrogeologists recruited in Canada, the USA, Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Spain. I also completed geophysical surveys for hydrogeological and geotechnical studies in Canada and abroad. Before starting my engineering career, I worked for five years in the Belgian Army Forces based in Germany (Special Forces Units).
I consider myself a professional person with strengths in the following key skills: development and management of multidisciplinary and multicultural work teams; knowledge of the mining industry; focus on practicality in solving problems related to groundwater and water resource management in general; versatility; quick and easy adaptation to new workplaces; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and work effectively as a team.
