Great Man Made River Project - Phase IV, Libya, North Africa

Man Made River Project - IV Phase (Ghadames - Az Zawiah): supervision and consulting over the construction of extraction, treatment, transport of water from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System located in Sahara (Ghadames)  - to Zuwarah and Az Zawiah city.

The system consists of the 144nr wells (900 - 1,100m depth), 208km well field collector pipeline, 622km main conveyance and distribution line, 1nr (CO2) Water Treatment Plant, 4nr pump stations, 3nr pressure breaking tanks, 1nr elevating tank, 25nr turnouts, Communication and Control System, 3nr Operation and Maintenance Centers, Electrical distribution system for the well field. Pipelines used for transport of water with main diameter 1,600 mm, PCCP (Pre-stressed Concrete Cylinder Pipes), Glass Reinforced Pipeline, Polyethylene, Steel Pipeline.

Pump Station #1 – CO2 Water Treatment Plant (Q=250,000m3/day with Inlet & Overflow Structure, Degasifiers & Filters Area, Wash Water Tank & Contact Tank), 1nr Forebay Tank (Q=20,000m3), 6nr Surge Vessels, 4+2 Pumps, (0,72m3/s/Pump @ 157mlc), Shaft Power 1380kW; Pump House & Electrical Building

Pump Station #2 – 1nr Forebay Tank (Q=20,000m3), 6nr Surge Vessels, 4+2 Pumps, (0,72m3/s/Pump @ 153mlc), Shaft Power 1344kW; Pump House, Electrical Building & O&M Facilities

Pump Station #3 -  1nr Forebay Tank (Q=20,000m3), 6nr Surge Vessels, 4+2 Pumps, (0,72m3/s/Pump @ 164mlc), Shaft Power 1441kW; Pump House, Electrical Building & O&M Facilities

Al Jewaibyah Station – 1nr Regulating Tank (Q=70,000m3), Chlorinator Building, Pump Station for Harabah Branch with Pump House & Electrical Building, 2+1 Pumps, (0,11m3/s/Pump @ 177mlc), Shaft Power 241kW;

Nalut Flow Control – 1nr Regulating Tank (Q=70,000m3), Electrical Building, Chlorinator Building, Flow Control Station

Total worth of Ghadames - Zuwarah - Al Zawia Project is 1.8 billion USD.
Project executed under especially written conditions of Contract based on ICE conditions of Contract.
