ABOUT OUR OPERATION
Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Environment Superintendent, the Water Management General Supervisor will perform his/her duties as a member of the Environment Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The Water Management General Supervisor will oversee establishing the global water management strategy and ensuring its execution. He/she will ensure compliance to regulations regarding all water management related activities. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Manage a multidisciplinary water treatment team, directing workflow and planning for the different workforce needs while ensuring proper levels of efficiency and productivity;
- Ensure proper execution of the established water management strategies;
- Lead and coordinate all the activities related to the water treatment specialists, the hydrologist/hydrogeologists, and the trainee and develop priorities for current and future projects;
- Develop a series of tools to support the long-term vision related to the global water strategy on site;
- Participate in the project development/construction activities;
- Ensure proper execution of all the water treatment plan activities on site (including planning, and analysis of the process and targets);
- Review and ensure compliance to regulation of all water related activities;
- Conduct QA/QC on monitoring compliance activities related to the water management;
- Notify the Superintendent of any non-conformities and assist in corrective actions;
- Ensure the water-related database is maintained to meet regulatory standards;
- Collaborate and liaise with the various environment teams and with the permitting team;
- Work in collaboration with all departments related to water management (E&I, ENG, GEO, etc.);
- Ensure the effective management of contractors so that they are aligned with projects and budgets;
- Complete all required reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly);
- Complete monthly calendars for inspections and sampling and ensure follow-ups;
- Provide field support to operations when required;
- Attend applicable meetings;
- Assist in managing consultants and organize logistics for environmental programs and reporting;
- Assist in reviewing and updating procedures and SOP;
- Liaise with Agnico Eagle technical services, project engineers and planners with data requests and provide support if needed;
- Research, evaluate and make recommendations on projects;
- Apply the principles and practices of the Agnico Eagle Supervision Formula;
- Provide impeccable health and safety follow-through and leadership.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or other relevant field;
- 8-10 years of work experience in one of the above fields is required;
- 5 years of proven leadership/supervisory experience is required;
- Mining experience is an asset;
- Experience with multi-tasking and working with multi-disciplinary project teams;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in and lead a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Candidates must attain a passing grade on a SPEEXX English Language Assessment.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 4/3 (Monday to Thursdays) with occasional 7/7; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
