This sounds like water mining, which is not a good idea without knowing if the water layers can be replenished in time and how long that will take. Yet another example of putting the needs of the few (humans) over the needs of the many (ecosystems).

I conquer with Peter that we should be mindful as this might bring other issues to our ecosystem. Replenishing of this resource might be very difficult or impossible and might bring other complications.
More reseach is needed before we can start minning this resource
