British Water (BW) is a dynamic trade association with a membership of supply chain companies covering a wide range of the water and wastewater industry. This includes manufacturers and suppliers of technologies and services to multi-disciplinary contractors and consultants, water companies and academic institutions. 

We work to bring a coherent voice on behalf of the industry and ensure our members have access to the information and contacts that they need to enhance their business development and best practices.

This integral role is an exciting and varied role for an experienced event and marketing manager who can really hit the ground running. It requires creativity, excellence, and a strong desire to deliver a great customer service and someone who thrives leading and working as part of a team.

Main Purpose of Job:

The Event & Marketing Manager is responsible for delivering and marketing BW’s flagship events and assisting the Executive Team with a range of Forum events.

Location:

This is a full time, permanent position in the BW office in Vauxhall. A probation period of 6 months will be required.

Travel within the UK for up to two days at a time will be necessary. Travel overseas is not currently required.

Responsible for:

The Event & Marketing Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management and marketing of key BW events and assisting the Executive Team with Forum events as and when required. Current annual key events include the House of Lords Winter Reception, AGM & Annual Lunch and International Reception & Conference. 

Success in this role rests on the ability to multi-task, manage budgets and engage with a variety of key stakeholders in order to develop and deliver BW’s busy events calendar. The purpose of these events is to raise the profile of the industry, facilitate networking opportunities for our members with the key stakeholders with whom they work and delivery key messages on behalf of the supply chain. It is the Event & Marketing Manager’s responsibility to ensure the portfolio of events creates excellent experiences for speakers, sponsors and attendees. 

The responsibility for coming up with new event opportunities and ideas is shared with the Executive Team and CE.

Main Requirements of the Job:

Project manage all events under the Event & Marketing Managers portfolio which includes preparing event proposals, digital marketing content and carrying out all tasks deemed essential for the successful delivery of an event. This includes co-creating BW marketing materials e.g. content for newsletters, brochures etc. to actively promote BW and its members

We are looking to recruit an energetic, highly organised and experienced executive looking to accelerate their experience in a dynamic business development organisation helping to deliver effective water stewardship. The Events & Marketing & Manager will be in a hands-on role at the centre of BW’s endeavours: from activating events, coming up with marketing content to research and insight.

Key Requirements & Experience:

·                    A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an event & marketing manager role

·                    Ability to travel 6-10 times per year around the UK for up to two days at a time

·                    Highly organized and proficient at managing multiple projects simultaneously

·                    Excellent at time management

·                    Able to manage resources, budgets, and onsite personnel

·                    Experience of end-to-end planning and coordination of industry events simultaneously, including pre/post-event logistics, attendee management, as well as defining messaging, pre/post-event campaigns and producing staff briefing materials, etc.

·                    Can move easily between generating big, creative ideas, and driving ongoing process improvement

·                    High level of attention to detail

·                    Digital marketing experience

·                    Proven research and insight analysis

·                    Solution oriented, pragmatic, robust and resourceful with the ability to adapt quickly

·                    Ability to report to the BW Board on the Events programme and respond to questions.

·                    Confident and energized by people and fast-paced environments

·                    Ability to build strong relationships and motivate cross-functional teams to work with you and feel great about their involvement

·                    Ability to negotiate and execute contracts for both large and small scale events

·                    Communications: able to provide consistent and clear communication of events program to all stakeholders, including internal briefing documents for specified events and conferences.

·                    Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to engage and collaborate with senior influencers and stakeholders to developing companies

·                    Knowledge and experience of marketing practices, particularly within B2B

·                    Good business acumen and a strong attention to detail

·                    Track record of taking ownership and driving results

·                    Strong work values - dependability, honesty, self-confidence and a positive attitude are prized qualities

·                    Experience of or an interest in the water/wastewater industry and environment industry
