Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Water Technologist with deep knowledge of conventional and advanced water treatment to provide process engineering on a variety of drinking water and potable reuse treatment planning, evaluation and design projects. Work will include process evaluation, modeling and design for municipal water treatment, advanced treatment and water recycling facilities throughout the U.S. The role will serve as technical leader for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) considerations in municipal drinking water and wastewater treatment and permitting in the East. This position may be located in Alexandria, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Raleigh.

Detailed Description:
The successful candidate will utilize consulting expertise to organize, manage and execute work on projects to help ensure successful client relationships. In addition, the candidate will be actively engaged in business development opportunities. The candidate will work closely with strong technical experts and other leaders within the company. - Serve as technical and business development lead responsible for advancing the Mid-Atlantic’s One Water services with a specific focus on drinking water and water reuse
- Provide client management and/or technical sales support while collaborating with business development teams on opportunities and pursuits in drinking water, water supply, municipal wastewater, and/or water reuse planning, design and implementation projects
- Serve as a key client contact with several of our wastewater, drinking water, and water reuse related clients
- Effectively balance technical sales initiatives with a technical execution role during the procurement and execution of key projects
- Manage and execute work on municipal and industrial water facilities include treatment plants, facility planning and design. Work may include (but not limited to):
- Drinking water and/or water reuse planning, process evaluation, selection, modeling and design, optimization, bench testing, and/or pilot testing
- Advanced water and/or wastewater treatment processes
- Water reclamation; water supply; potable and non-potable reuse; blending; regulatory requirements; public involvement; and water quality
- Prepare and make presentations to client and for professional meetings
- Provide consultation in specialized areas related to efficient design management for treatment plant, facility planning and design. Collaborate and make decisions and solve problems.
- Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency
- Advanced water and/or wastewater treatment processes
- Water reclamation; water supply; blending; regulatory requirements; public involvement; and water quality
- Lead the company’s per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) Initiative in the Eastern Business Unit
- Participate in national client engagement in PFAS considerations in drinking water and wastewater treatment and permitting
- Participate directly in collaborative industry research (e.g. Water Research Foundation and federally funded research) and effectively communicate this knowledge in publications and at conferences to further represent BC’s brand.Apply this knowledge to solve client challenges.
- Hold leadership positions in national industry organizations (e.g. AWWA, WEF, NEBRA, WateReuse Association, or others) and local/regional organizations (e.g. NEWEA)
- Supervise, delegate, and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers
- Assist with career development of team members and identify high potential performers to create a healthy career progression and sustainable/long standing project support structure for our clients
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in drinking water and/or water reuse planning, design and implementation.
- Bachelor’s Degree required in the areas of Civil or Environmental Engineering or other related areas with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment and management; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer registration in state of residence
- Understanding of federal drinking water and water reuse regulations, and federal regulations impacting contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) including, but not limited to PFAS
- Solid understanding of conventional drinking water and advanced water treatment processes
- Experience and interest in a combination of areas including water supply; water treatment; blending; regulatory requirements; public involvement; water quality; and potable and non-potable reuse; water reclamation
- Ideal experience should include evaluation, testing, selection and design of conventional and advanced treatment processes, and ability to research equipment and technologies
- Successful marketing, technical presentation, proposal writing, proposal management and public presentations
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for technical and non-technical audiences
- Prior consulting experience preferred with experience supporting private and municipal sector clients
