Some information on this job:
This is like a Hazardous Materials (chemicals) Driver role, but instead of just driving, you will be managing the processes and quality of the function. This is a new position that we are opening because of growth. There is one Transportation Quality Leader in place that is currently over the entire North America region. We are splitting that region into two and this role will take over the Midwest-ish territory (to include VA, PA, NY, MD, VA, NC, SC, KY, TN, OH, Il, WI, IN, etc.)
What will you do?
Working from our Transportation office in Ashland, VA (this is not a remote role, will be required to be in the Richmond, VA area), this role will manage a team of about 10 drivers (in house and 3rd party) with a focus on quality. Will ensure drivers are trained and following all regulatory requirements in the transporting and offloading of our chemical products. The position will drive and/or fly within the region about 60%-70% of the time to visit client sites and perform audits. And will work with customers and internal sales teams to troubleshoot and correct any delivery and transportation issues.
Are you qualified for this role?
- 7 years of experience driving & offloading chemicals
- Must have experience in the oil & gas industry
- CDL license with hazmat/tanker endorsement
- Clean driving record
- Valid US Passport (this position may visit client sites in Canada)
- Knowledge of DOT regulations

Some information about the physical demands and environment that are important for you to know:
- This is a specialty chemical blending and packaging company where hazardous materials are present.
- Will be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures and work space restrictions.
- Required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.
- Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn/twist, or reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds and sometimes required to maneuver drums weighing 250-800 pounds.
- Required to be medically cleared to wear a respirator.
- Required to drive long distances and occasionally up to 10 hours consecutively, not to exceed DOT regulations.
