Water Quality Field Technician

Responsibilities 

Implements various projects developed by the Water Quality Manager or Water Quality Specialist. Perform regulatory analysis and research on environmental issues of concern to the Water Department. Create and maintain databases and spreadsheets, processes documentation and paperwork according to departmental procedures. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

·       Perform chemical and bacteriological analysis of water to maintain compliance with TCEQ programs. Coordinate all sampling programs for internal and external monitoring

·       Perform compliance monitoring through internal and external programs such as Tank monitoring, TCR, trihalomethanes, Lead and Copper, IDSE, DNA

·       Maintain documentation in accordance with the departmental produces and in accordance with TCEQ requirements 

·       Oversee and coordinate field analysis of field samplers and flushing crews.

·       Assist in internal and external comprehensive compliance investigations

·       Exercising water valves when needed

·       Perform flushing as part of Dead End Main Flushing program.

·       May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

·       Requires a High School Diploma/ GED

·       Minimum of two (2) years of related experience

·       Class D TCEQ Water Operator License within 1 year of hire

·       Class C TCEQ Water Operator License within 2 years of hire

·       A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
