We are currently looking for a Project Cost Engineer to join the Aberdeen team on a full time staff basis.

Working closely with our project teams you will play a key role in providing up to date, meaningful reports around project planning and cost management.

You will either be an experienced Project Cost Engineer looking for a new challenge or perhaps you have had previous exposure to the role and are now looking to develop your skills in this area.

What will I be doing?

Role Summary:

• Generate and manage cost and planning activities and change control related to various Projects.
• Project reporting, generation of dashboards and other progress data such as cost and schedule ‘S’ curves etc
• Communicating with Project Management Team to generate accurate resource forecast histograms
• Participate in resource forecast meetings using BMS software Powe BI (Training provided)
• Coordinating / communication Project status with other Costain offices

Key Responsibilities:

• Working with the Project Team for generation of Project Cost Estimates and Change Orders
• Generate and manage baseline plan with critical path activities for all project phases using Primavera P6
• Generate and manage cost report aligned with baseline plan
• Generate and maintain the Master Document Register (MDR).
• Update baseline plan and cost report as per weekly time writing hours and claimed progress
• Assess and validate claimed progress is aligned with MDR status.
• Monitor planned and actual spends (hours and cost)
• Analyze, evaluate and forecast project status against the baseline plan and approved budget, advise if slippage or forecast overspend
• Support with Project Risk Management with regards to impact to cost and schedule
• Input to Procurement Status Report, support with Long Lead items and requirements on site / offshore dates
• Generation of all Project Administration data including:
  • Weekly and Monthly Reports with:

• KPI’s
• Dashboards
• Statistics
• ‘S’ Curves
• MDR Status
• Cost Status
• Forecast
• General Narrative

• Wider Activities include: 

  • Upload CTR’s into Costain Power BI system
  • Coordination with other Costain offices for centralise resource forecasting using Power BI
  • Support the team for timesheets, time-writing, opening booking codes etc
  • Support to liaison with the Finance department
  • Compliance with relevant Costain Upstream Processes and Procedures
  • Development of templates and tools

About you

Qualifications:

• GCSE / Standard Grade and above
• Certificate in Project Management such as APM preferred

Technical Experience:

• Knowledge of Primavera P6, Word and Excel
• Project Reporting skills
• Understanding of all Project lifecycle phases from initiation to handover
• Awareness of discipline engineering teams involved in project execution
• Previous experience with / exposure to databases
