Due to continued rapid growth and expansion of the water group into Eastern Canada, we are seeking a Business Group Leader – Water/Wastewater in our Montreal office to continue our expansion of a highly successful group. You will be part of the leadership of water practice in Eastern Canada and will work collaboratively with our global Water Practice to expand our market position in the region as well as lead and develop our technical resources and capabilities.
The Business Group Leader is accountable for performance and growth of the Business Group. Through utilization and project performance, achievement of revenue and growth targets, and development and implementation of the business plan.
Business Development & Client Service :
Develop and implements Business Group Business Plan
Build effective relationships with Business Group key clients
Lead project capture plans, coordination of proposal preparation and activities
Actively participates in client functions, professional and/or industrial organizations to promote GHD brand
Assist in critical Eastern Canada Water business development initiatives
People :
Collaborates with senior members of the business group as well as the NA and Regional Market Leaders and Client Sector Leader to achieve excellent business outcomes
Work with project directors, project managers and project teams to improve job delivery skills within Business Group
Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff in delivering ongoing municipal, water & wastewater projects
Demonstrate support and compliance with the requirements of the GHD HSE Management system and management participation matrix
Act as Project Manager or Project Director on appropriate projects
Attracts strategic hires for the Business Group to develop the business
Performance :
Sustainable growth of the Business Group's net revenue
Drive financial performance with respect to contribution. Monitor and manage backlog, utilization, DSO, variances, and markups.
Development of job/scope of work packages, budgets, and progress
Managing the allocation of people to projects in agreement with the Project Manager
Manage and mitigate risks within the Business Group
Develop budget and monitor monthly
GHD Management Systems for Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Environment
Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and project managers
Ensure technical soundness of work produced by the Business Group
Technical Skills:
Lead the group’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control program for Eastern Canada’s water design projects
Apply proven experience on municipal infrastructure projects to complete preliminary and detailed design of storm and sanitary sewer collection systems, water supply, distribution and storage systems, pumping stations, potable water and wastewater treatment facilities
Provide guidance and QA/QC on all engineering design, calculations, design briefs and technical reports for municipal infrastructure, masterplans, environmental assessments, and detailed design projects
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
University Engineering Degree
Member of OIQ
Minimum 12-15 years’ experience in Project Management, design and construction of water infrastructure projects
Having a well-established client base that preferably include major cities within the region
Highly developed interpersonal skills, both oral and written
Fluently bilingual (English/French)
Excellent people leadership & mentoring skills
