The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources is a publicly-owned utility, committed to providing excellent water, wastewater and stormwater services at the best possible value to the citizens of Gwinnett County. The department is widely recognized for service excellence in the operation of two water production facilities, three water reclamation facilities and more than 200 sewer pump stations. In addition, DWR maintains 3,667 miles of water lines, 2,654 miles of sewer lines and 1,325 miles of stormwater pipe. The Department of Water Resources takes pride in stewardship of the environmental resources entrusted to us and pledge to be responsible as we manage water as a limited, but renewable, resource.
The Water Production Section Manager position is responsible for the daily activities related to the administration of two water production facilities (150 and 98 MGD). The water production section is made up of approximately 50 operations staff responsible for producing safe, high quality drinking water and complying with all permit requirements. Duties will include working with operations staff to improve efficiency; reviewing and updating procedures and guidelines for operations and maintenance; ensuring the readiness of the plant staff through review of the training and education program; communicating with other divisions and departments within Gwinnett County as well acting as the liaison with citizens and outside agencies concerning water production matters; and working with engineering and technical services on long-term planning for the facilities including asset management, staffing needs, operational budgeting, and monitoring for changing regulations that will affect the utility. The position is a key member of the team developing the Capital Improvement Program and implementing the near and long term rehabilitation and renewal programs. The Water Production Section Manager will prepare and present reports related to compliance, budget, and personnel on a regular basis. Other duties as assigned.
This position is a Grade 108.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, Chemistry, Biology or a closely related field
- Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, including two (2) years experience as a manager;
- Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
