Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Wastewater Treatment Plant Op 2, we'll count on you to:

 

• Perform routine tasks related to the operation of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities

• Maintain plant compliance with EPA standards and state water Commission

• Perform general cleaning of grounds and buildings

• Ensure plant safety and sanitary requirements

• Operate and maintain water and/or wastewater treatment equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental protection limits

• Monitor and sample well and groundwater upon entry to the system

• Adjust treatment levels when below-standard variances are detected

• Sample water prior to exiting system

• Detect and report atypical conditions, such as: damaged, malfunctioning and tampered meters, detecting and reporting leaks, high/low consumption, exposed wiring and other safety hazards

• Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

HDR is looking for a part time licensed water / wastewater operator in the Houston, Texas area.  The operator will be responsible for operational controls of the facility, as well as predictive and preventative maintenance.  This position is expected to require a maximum of 10 to 15 hours per week, plus some on-call opportunities.  The successful candidate must be a problem solver, and work very well with clients.   Our intent is to create an atmosphere where the successful candidates, can gain valuable experience for personal and career growth.  An emphasis will be on creating a learning environment, where practical experience will be combined with classroom learning so that the candidates can gain higher levels of certification. 

 

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of relevant experience in plant operations.

Texas D groundwater and D wastewater operator licenses.

Ability to handle multiple, diverse assignments.
