Mixing of reservoir water by mixers is found to be suitable at some places as it minimizes stagnation. In conventional treatment Chlorine-di-oxide and small amount of chlorine or ozone can immobilize algae cells without bursting the skin. This prevents intra-cellular matter to escape out (which has THM forming potential). Alum and P.E. are necessary to entrap these particles. Tapered flocculation followed by Tube settlers have proven to be effective to remove such algal floc.
