Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

• GI contract administration and preparation of specifications, interpretation and verification of ground investigation data and parameters to build up a ground model to assist in design
• Production of design solutions and drawings, covering a range of project requirements from new build to modification, maintenance, refurbishment and foundation design
• Detailed design analysis involving application of geotechnical principles, including soil mechanics and marine foundation design ground improvement and reclamation design, deep excavations, retaining walls and tunnels, deep foundations and groundwater behaviour
• Prepare Geotechnical Interpretative Reports (GIRs)
• Working with engineers of other disciplines in order to produce integrated geotechnical assessments into the overall project delivery
• Assessing the geotechnical hazards and risks to projects and communicating appropriate solutions
• Answering technical queries and requests for information and forward to relevant designers

Candidate Specification

• Minimum 15 years demonstrable experience in the geotechnical works related to large underground structures.
• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical discipline) from an accredited university; Professional Engineering Registration from any internationally-recognized professional institution would be a distinct advantage
• Prior experience of working on deep underground tunnelling projects and underground structures would be an advantageous
• Experience in geotechnical works on design and construction of tunnels is a must
• Knowledge of geotechnical software packages including Holebase, Slope/W, Seep/W, Wallap and Plaxis would be beneficial.
• Evidence of working within a safety, quality and environmental management system.
• Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across individuals, teams and projects
• Using leadership skills to build and nurture relationships and also creating effective working environments
• Adopting an adaptive mindset and using strategic and critical thinking to approach problems in a new way
• Ability to deal efficiently with priorities and manage time appropriately
• Advanced level proficiency with all MS Office products and other industry-standard software and IT platforms
• A dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels including external stakeholders
• Ensure MacDonald HSE policies are at the forefront of all activities
• Adopting a proactive approach towards complex tasks and overall delivery
• Sound knowledge of professional and international standards

Main Purpose of the Job:

Mott MacDonald is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to support the delivery of an on-going project in Doha. The project is a large diameter tunnel with a deep underground pump station and marine outfall.
