About 25% of the world’s drinking water leaks out of aging underground pipes before reaching anyone’s tap. Echologics is helping to lead a global charge to change this through technological innovation. Our innovative technology and services allow water utilities to manage their pipelines based on reliable information about their condition simply by placing sensors on valves and fire hydrants. With custom-engineered technologies for detecting and locating leaks, as well as distinguishing healthy pipes from degraded ones, Echologics offers our customers a truly unique set of information-gathering tools.
Echologics is currently searching for a pipe condition assessment services (ePulse & PipeRank) Product Owner in our Toronto, Ontario office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the product deliverables and user experience to our engineering and operations teams
- Prioritize development opportunities based on business strategy and market feedback
- Update and maintain the product roadmap
- Evaluate potential product partners and acquisition targets
- Research and summarize competitive service offerings
- Support win/loss analysis
- Manage and maintain product technical documentation such as a slides deck, method description, spec sheet
- Develop key product messages
- Build return on investment business cases for product implementation
- Other tasks as assigned
The Product Owner drives clear communication between departments to ensure a great customer experience and the overall commercial success of the product line. The Product Owner collaborates with the following stakeholders:
Customers – Understand the challenges product users face today. Stay in touch to maintain a clear picture of how customers use our services and what product features they respond to. The Product Owner is always on the lookout for ways to improve our offering and solve more customer problems.
Engineering – Clearly articulate to engineering who our users are, what problems our products solve for them, and illustrate typical use cases. The Product Owner is a continuous advocate for our users throughout the development process ensuring we build what our customers need.
Commercial Team – Support our sales and marketing teams with tools and training that outlines the product and related value propositions. The Product Owner organizes the launch package for new condition assessment technologies and maintains existing technical sales tools.
Operations Team – Leverage feedback from project managers to improve processes and overall service delivery.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Natural sciences, mathematics, engineering, computer science) or Business. In lieu of degree, 5+ years of water industry experience.
- Advanced degree in quantitative field or business.
Skills & Competencies:
- Product management experience
- Advanced negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Advanced communication skills (written and verbal), with proven ability to express complex ideas in a simple logical manner
- Ability to understand advanced technical concepts
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
- Organizational skills to break down a complex project into manageable tasks and prioritize them
- Proficient computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio
- Knowledge of the water distribution systems and water utility operations is an asset
- Experience with the development of mobile and web user interfaces
