We currently have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Water Resources Engineer with the primary focus to lead task management and client service interaction on a variety of stormwater and water resources projects in relation to solar development, design-build and land development projects.
Work may include planning, designing, regulatory compliance and permitting on current and future renewable projects in Virginia and across the Mid-Atlantic Area. Projects will include stormwater management, stormwater facility (e.g., BMP, GI, LID) planning studies, and water quality studies.
Responsibilities:
Provide engineering or scientific support for field investigations, feasibility studies, design documentation and construction inspection phases of projects including report writing and field data collection
Serve as a fully capable professional in the field with minimal direction
Prepare construction documents, engineering reports, and basic data and scientific documents regarding stormwater, water quality, watershed management, and best management practices
Lead the design efforts for a variety of water resources and site development projects
Perform hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and geospatial evaluations
Perform watershed and water quality assessments and conventional aspects of watershed planning and BMP prioritization
Prepare written and graphic reports and make presentations
Support the development of proposals
Participate in business development with local, state, and federal clients
Develop estimates of technical efforts for projects
Training and mentoring of junior staff
Develop and manage project budgets and schedules
Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Agricultural or related Engineering field
Minimum 10+ years of in Water Resources Engineering experience
Working knowledge of civil and environmental engineering principles
Understanding of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in construction and post-construction settings, hydrology, fluvial processes, and applicable rules and regulations.
Expertise in renewable energy projects preferably solar utility-scale environment
Experience with planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and BMPs, low impact development projects, and green infrastructure practices
Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations
Attention to detail in work; high quality and accuracy in work performed
Ability to prepare draft and final documents including design drawings, construction documents, engineering and scientific reports, and technical memoranda
Ability to interact appropriately with regulatory personnel and clients for routine tasks
Understanding of personal role in supporting marketing of company services by delivering high-quality, accurate work products to external and internal clients
Working knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software, such as CADD, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS)
Strong analytical and computational abilities
Understanding of statistical analyses
Excellent communication skills; both verbal and technical report writing
Highly motivated and capable of working effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineering license in Virginia
VADEQ Dual Combined Administrator Certification
Certified Floodplain Manager
Experience in managing and tracking multiple projects
