YOUR POSITION WITH TNC

The Global Aquaculture Scientist provides technical and scientific support and leadership for the Nature Conservancy’s Global Aquaculture Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Global Aquaculture Scientist provides scientific support and leadership to advance the Nature Conservancy’s Global Aquaculture Program, a key strategy to advance The Conservancy’s global priority to provide food and water sustainably by the year 2050.  They develop innovative scientific methods, analyses, tools, and frameworks to improve the sustainability of marine aquaculture, primarily related to the bivalve shellfish and seaweed sectors (the program’s restorative aquaculture portfolio).  They will develop global-level research products and peer-reviewed publications by conducting synthesis science and providing scientific guidance and support to field programs.   They will conduct scientific reviews of proposed aquaculture projects in reference to global standards. They will develop will work with the Global Lead to identify the science strategy and future science priorities to further the Conservancy’s aquaculture program.  They communicate scientific results, solutions, and best practices, within The Conservancy and to external stakeholders at meetings and conferences. They will manage or lead one or more grant and support grant writing.
