Why: Because, "more" than ​80% of the ​world's ​sewage finds ​its way into ​seas and rivers ​untreated. We drain the land of water only to pollute the waterways with spent water, anthropogenically altering the water cycle (responsible for climate), and the nutrient cycle (for sustaining life). Sewage is carbonaceous, oxygen deficient, acidic and extremely polluting simply because of its oxygen depleting, acidifying, pharmaceutical/bacterial/plastic constituency - irrespective of whether treated or untreated. Any statement to the contrary is erroneous. This ever-ignorant, exceedingly poor management of community water is why Sewage is the largest source contributor to pollution of our waterways, witnessed globally by "DO NOT SWIM, DRINK or BATHE" notices and an increasing ocean dead zone.
