POSITION OBJECTIVE:  

The Business Development Coordinator supports a comprehensive and integrated stewardship and donor relations program that fosters a culture of appreciation, recognition, accountability, and ongoing engagement of Water For People’s donors, thereby strengthening and maintaining philanthropic support of Water For People.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:  

    Establish and manage a portfolio of donors who give $250-$1,000 per year by proactively thanking and screening first time donors
    Develop and implement strategies to maximize the giving potential of a select number of major donors ($100,000+) which may require face-to-face visits, frequent donor email and phone communication, and assisting and leading overseas donor visits
    Become deeply familiar with each account’s special needs and with Water For People’s strategy and assets to maximize the partnership potential of each Major Gift partnership
    Proactively develop and execute individualized stewardship plans and strategies for each Major Gift partner as developed jointly with the Business Development donor relationship manager (RM)
    Support RM in reaching out to donors through individual phone calls, emails, group e- newsletters and other communications to maintain engagement
    Consider how to help donors connect more deeply to Water For People through events, volunteer or other opportunities and enable appropriate connections
    Collaborate with other team members and departments to develop additional stewardship ideas and opportunities to further engage donors
    Collaborate with the RM for future donation requests of existing donors
    Ensure donor proposal and reporting expectations are met by working with RM, Grants Unit, and Global Programs team to deliver thorough written pitches and reports on time
    Manage internal review and execution of new donor contract and execute with donor when applicable
    Project manage donor international visits to Water For People program areas and support visit planning with RM and Global Programs team to ensure a successful visit
    Create and deliver non-standard reports and program updates to donors as requested by RM
    Support RM during donor visits to Water For People’s headquarters including logistical support and, if appropriate, active participation to strengthen relationship with donor
    Own the prospecting process by proactively identifying prospects and facilitating progress of prospects from identified stage through RM visit or ask which may include conducting research, direct prospect interaction, initial outreach, and communication, responding to info inbox inquires, and making recommendations about prospect next steps to RM 
    Provide some administrative support to RM, including but not limited to, meeting scheduling, meeting note taking, and Raiser’s Edge meeting note entry when a participant in such donor interactions
    Track and record all donor details, meetings, interactions, and prospect research on a weekly basis using the constituent database Raiser’s Edge and regularly monitor account progress through the donor pipeline
    Strive to improve or formalize internal processes to streamline donor management in a team sales environment
    Participate in fundraising activities and events as Water For People staff representatives are needed
    Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED: 

    Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience is required
    3 years’ experience in non-profit sector, 1+ year in fundraising required
    2 years’ experience in relationship management or working across multiple teams, required
    Experience tracking the details, including report timelines and monitoring and evaluation data, of multiple projects progressing in parallel and in different stages of completion 
    Experience using Raiser’s Edge database preferred
    Verbal and written Spanish proficiency required
    Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required. Advanced proficiency preferred 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: 

    Ability to work remotely or from an office setting 
    This position will be based out of the Denver headquarters office

Salary Range:  Anticipated wage is $21.00 to $23.00/hour.
