If there is sampling line after pH adjustment and coagulant dosing, just take a sample and analyze the water quality such as SDI. Then, you will know the difference. Difference between pH 5.4 and 5.8 is small, you may not be able to read and compare the result through Jar Test as it is a very rough checking.
