At the moment the only available technology with smallest footprint is cstr tank. The flowrate at the first 3 years is expected to be around 350-400m3/day
For POME, The favour for treatmebt this influent is Use UASB followed with upflow bioremediation, this effluent will produce high methane biogas. We will ready for your consultant to design this package treatment.
Thank you for the update. From my experience CSTR followed by IFAS/MBBR is a reasonable answer; your calculations will tell you for certain. Important issues will be i) solids management and ii) the hydrolysis rate for your incoming solids. The two-stage process with a pre-acidification tank may be helpful for this. I agree with You - after all, new technology and the new that applies to their technology is better, so energy-efficient, resource-saving, innovative solution to the problem. Even compare footprint - the new technology is FIVE times smaller in size !!! is an achievement, so it will be less bulky equipment means fewer people will need to be maintained... And it is always easier and less expensive, means more cost effective means getting the most profit at the same rates. Or the ability to install the treatment equipment where the old equipment could not be placed. Why not go for something like this design here used in Nepal for remote villages produce their own methane gas, if required you could install a Petrol & Oil separation or Grease Trap process inside so water volume removed quicker whilst fermentation solids remain, and like Paul Comet stated you design wetands for outlet effluent too ultimately become purified for completion it!

A high rate anaerobic treatment of palm oil mill effluent (POME) was achieved in a two-stage up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor. The acidogenic reactor acclimated rapidly to the wastewater and was tolerant to a suspended solids (SS) concentration of 5.4 g l−1 in the influent wastewater . In the process of palm oil milling, effluent is generated through the sterilization of fresh oil palm fruit bunches, clarification of palm oil and from hydrocyclone operations. Discharge of palm oil mill wastewater without proper treatment will damage the environment by polluting water and causing a foul smell in the neighborhood of a factory. Continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTR) have also been studied for the treatment of palm oil mill effluent. Furthermore, biogas from the closed treatment system can be utilized as a fuel for electricity generation. This form of utilization of domestic natural resources will not only reduce the dependency on foreign fuel imports for electricity generation but also have a lower environmental impact.
