These bubbles form on the surface of the impurities and stick to them forming a highly bouyant froth. The heavy solids, like sand, sink the the bottom and are carried out in the underflow. Low foot print, no chemicals, no heat and the only moving parts are the pumps.

Our company's experiences with Ultrasound has been to enhance settling of biosolids not to increase buoyancy because the sonic waves emitted by ultrasound devices break apart both micro and macro bubbles that enhance floatation or buoyancy. One of the configurations that we use effectively to increase suspension of biosolids in digesters is to pump the biosolids from the bottom of the tank or basin and discharge them at the surface in a recirculatory pattern allowing them to slowly resettle with the addition of air through an eductor enhancing digestion (if that is the objective) and reduce VSS.
