Potassium permanganate can be used @ 2-3 ppm,
it is the best coagulant for organic matter and disinfectant for most of the air-born contamination.
At at this concentration it is cheaper than Alum.
After application time of 6-8 hrs, water should be rigorously aerated and allow it for settlement.
