I can't make a definitive recommendation without more information. What is the source of your filtered water? What is the vessel configuration? How new is the resin? What is the analysis of your MBO? How do you regenerate the resin? How often do you perform brine rinses?

I agree with some of the others caustic should not smell.  You can smell hot caustic but cold caustic has little smell particularly when dilute.  The source of the odour needs to be investigated.

I guess it's Anionic exchanger, anyhow you have to use food grade Cation and Anion Exchangers. Be attend of water temperature as > 35/40 deg C the smell of Amines from Anion IEX can be increased. Max. working temperature of strong basic IEX is 60 degC. > 60 deg C you decrease functional quaternet Amino groups to create Amine/Ammonia like smells.Check your process. Look also in your rinsing times, may your raw water smell too?

Hi Check the pH first. ...

Hi

Check the pH first. Maybe it's only a caustic-like smell that may be caused by the type of plastic vessels and piping or if your DM process is based on exchange resins , then it can happen especially after regeneration of resins. If so, an activated carbon process is needed. Also, make sure you chose the right kind of resin. Normally for DM, you should use Strong base and acid resins. Sometimes if you use sodium chloride based resins and regen it with acid and base, then you may face such a problem.

Dear Researchers. Activated ...

Dear Researchers.

Activated charcoal ( wood based) may be used.

Extended aeration with spray fountains amidst forcrd air-draughr will be beneficial.

Thse are basic process, however at source smells need to be neutralised by chemical action too.

Well wishes.

I do not think that caustics, such as sodium hydroxide do not smell. Would be useful to look into the source water for presence of malodorous compound(s).
