Irrigation Methods
Water is an important input in rice production, Asian countries faces severe problems with increasing demand for water and limited water resources. In conventional paddy production, one of the most important irrigated crops, a significant amount of irrigation water is lost due to percolation and evaporation. Therefore, it exist a vivid research in water saving rice technologies. I been researching for some technical papers highlighting water-saving rice production technologies. I came across some new technologies called, Drip irrigation and fertigation technologies, details can be seen here. http://www.scribd.com/doc/88516713/2012-AIF-D2S6b-Drip-Irrigation-and-Fertigation-Technology-for-Rice-Cultivation-by-Dr-P-Soman You can also see another paper on Alternate Wetting and Drying Irrigation (AWD): a technology for water saving in rice production here http://www.knowledgebank-brri.org/AWD/AWD_technology.pdf Hope this works for you. You may like to comment on limitations on these technologies as you are having experience of the paddy cultivation
