Published by in Case Studies

Hi all!

Could you please to share any experience about success cases of landfill leachate treatment.

The general experience and treatment process will be very helpful to do a benchmarking.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Good day Eduardo Sanchez,

The landfill leachate treatment it depend on methods of treating waste. You must consider slope too and water table, this will guide you on how should you supposed to treat it.

Thanks

Ammonia levels can be a ...

Ammonia levels can be a problem, which can be dealt with using a fully aerated system and ensuring that live ammonia-oxidising bacteria are present.  As Eros Kaw rightly said, it is the materials, which inhibit bacteria such as phenolics that cause problems.  There are bacteria adapted to the growth on these materials.  It is one of the places where membrane technology can be useful.  The reed beds can also be used as a polishing system but may not be the best at removing high levels of hazardous materials.

Hi Eduardo. We have a ...

Hi Eduardo. We have a breaktrough technology in leachate treatments in Malaysia and also applicable for other industrial wastewater as well. The syatem design to optimizes capex and opex and fully automated with remote monitoring.  The 100% electrification solution with zero ponding required no chemical and biological  reagents and the outcome complied with standard A in Malaysia. Crystal clear water and odorless.

its mostly the biological ...

its mostly the biological inhibitors that give problems.  mainly Ammonia and phenolics.   metals are mostly sorted out and though a few are left, its not material.  so odor is an issue, but the bod, cod and ammonia.  the phenols is best under 100.   Ammonia over 480 can kill almost all microbes,  and phenols over 100 kill the microbes that treat ammonia.  after these two are taken cared of, the leachate treatment becomes easy.    best of luck, Eduardo.

Constructed wetlands should seriously be considered for landfill leachate treatment. Plenty of info on the web about such an option.
