We had a client that required zero discharge because they could not receive NPDES permit or a POTW that would accept their wastewater. It was a metals manufacturing company, 100% of the water was recycled back into the plant process--for cooling. The sequence of equipment was an inclined plate clarifier, pH adjustment tank, and filtration of residual solids and clarification on a rotary vacuum drum then the treated water is returned to the standby water tank. The flow was very small for this plant 10,000 gpd but the technology can be scaled up for larger flows. This is just one of many system designs that can be configured for "Zero Discharge".
