I need a document to design UASB and MBBR tanks. I would like to know how to calculate COD, BOD content?

Any advise or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I have sent the operation ...

I have sent the operation which can use for UASB design and For MBBR Prof Saraf has been explained very clear and I would like to give more in term of Energy saving and SOTE , SOTR, DO should nor over 2 ppm by operate base on endigenous phase. AGGIE aggasit2012@gmail.com

UASB is anaerobic Process & ...

UASB is anaerobic Process & MBBR is aerobic combination of suspended growth process. You have to calculate total organic load on Kg/day from COD/BOD and total flow.

For MBBR Retention time varies from 6 to 8 hr. Media added is around 20 to 30% of total volume of aeration tank.

Oxygen is calculated from total BOD load per day. For example BOD is 200 mg/l. This is equivalent to 0.2 kg / Cum.

For 500 cum of waste water total BOD load will be 100 kg/day

Oxygen supply is consider as 1.5 to 2 Kg of BOD applied. From Total Oxygen required air volume is calculated. This gives air flow required from the air blower.

Heart of UASB is the formation of sludge blanket in the reactor. Sludge is kept is blanket form by the upward velocity of waste water added from the bottom. it is difficult to explain all the steps of calculation. However for details you can contact me with the details of Waste water.

Thank for your enthusiasm

COD and BOD concentration is not stable. it considers as 800 - 15.000 mg/l for COD and 500 - 10.000 mg/l for BOD. the capacity in range 100 - 500 m3/day. I want to know the way design UASB and MBBR to control COD load. Example: for Q=100m3/day, COD = 15.000. I will adjust flow of waste water at inlet of UASB.
Please give me detail method via email, hdh24886@gmail.com

You will need to determine ...

You will need to determine incoming COD, this will be a function of the conditions associated with the generation of the wastewater, is it domestic, industrial etc. For domestic you should also relate to local conditions as this has influence, is it combined sewer/stormwater, high/low income region etc all have influence

then you need to fix the effluent target limit

Metcalf &Eddy publication will give you some overall references on how or what to select for your specific application

contact me if you require more detailed support

Thank. I will give you parameter at inlet and requirement of discharge point:

Inlet: capacity = 400m3, COD = 15.000mg/l, BOD=10.000mg/l, TSS =600mg/l. Oil and grease = 250 mg/l, total N = 7mg/l, total P =10mg/l.

Discharge: COD = < 75mg/l, BOD

Why don’t you have a google ...

Why don’t you have a google search first? It will be too hard to teach you how to design in the internet.
