Any patents or other descriptions of how this is supposed to work? Not forward osmosis or membranes, I presume.

Detail is certainly available through a qualified process of engagement. This is not forward osmosis, it is RO. It has gone through extensive, independent 3rd party testing by one of the most credible engineers to be found in the desal industry. Extensive system engineering and a lot of R&D $ went into development: from bench tests, through numerous pilots, through demonstration scale plant, which over-achieved all its goals, such as specific energy consumption ~ 1/2 what 4 major desal producers are competing to achieve in a 2013-2016 United Arab Emirates test.
