Since all plastics are chlorinated hydrocarbon molecules they are easily biodegraded using natural microbes that are responsible for this function. I have a nice size home garden. I cut up milk jugs, straws, plastic bags, any plastic or oil based product. Mix with compost add the microbes and have an extremely productive garden all year long. Very simple basic science. Anyone can do it. I believe that makes my plastic footprint Zero.
