I have developed a water supply technology called the Clariwash self backwashing filter which produces drinking water targeting development and disaster response. The system has no moving parts using a siphon to backwash, needing little maintenance. A single unit can supply over 1000 people with 15 l/head/day but multiple units can bed used. Can be exported or built locally in workshop using readily available materials and doesn't require a manufacturing process. Filter uses advanced media which may need exporting but local filter sand can be used with some reduction in performance. Six filters have been installed and operating in Uganda.
