Hi Nicolas most important point what;s the capacity of STP you are talking about. If it's small capacity decentralized plant then using the pumps with crushing devices are the best installed in the equalization tank. I have used such pumps for the capacity of STP 750 m3/day.
But if the plant is high capacity & centralized plant then you have to use Screen & grit removal system with special care of odor generation & emission. For odor control you may use a biological product also but it should contain anaerobic bacteria to control odor because odor generation is strict anaerobic process.
I rode about sewage grinders that cut through rags and other solids. This might prevent clogging and overflow discharge. Another technology would be the direct inline pumping because there are no odors and it can also prevent the discharge. Do you have any technologies in mind?
educate to prevent disposable nappies being flushed or dumped. Non-biodegradable disposable nappies should be banned ("Pampers" is a swear word in some communities). Also rather screen than use a macerator at inlet works to pump stations. Macerators cut up the plastics so they go through to the treatment works and ultimately back into the environment.
