Good morning Shridhar,

Dataloggers (at least the ones we use) by principle cannot be hooked up directly to a meter or really anywhere in a pump station.  Each datalogger will specify how it is to be installed, but the general rule of thumb is that the logger is placed at least 100 m or further downstream of a meter so that the water in the pipeline has a chance to reach steady state flow with little to no turbulence.  The turbulence in the pipeline leads to erratic flow results and confusing graphs that do not provide the engineer with any useful information.  Additionally, the datalogger is to be installed in a straight pipe run at least 2 m from any elbows or appurtenances to ensure steady flow (as much as possible) through the datalogger in order to get proper readings.
