Before recommending any alternative, could you please give information on size of establishment and number of pigs? Effluent quality requirements are also necessary.
There are low cost methods for small number of pigs and more expensive methods that require less space but output better quality effluent.

Dear Juan! How about around 180000 sqm for the establishment and around 54000 pigs/cycle? As for the effluent quality requirements : CBO5 >20, CCO >125, TKN >15, P >2, TS >60

Hi Dragos, this is a VERY large operation and your water quality requirements are quite strict. For this size of establishment you are probably growing part of your feed, I am guessing corn. If this is the case I would recommend that 80% of your waste water be treated in Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket reactor (UASB) and the reactor effluent must be further treated with the remaining 20% of untreated wastewater in a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) to remove Nitrogen and Phosphorus. If you grow your feed, you could fertilize your fields with the UASB reactor effluent. The digested sludge from both reactors should be composted using earthworms and used/sold as organic fertilizer. Theses are just general recommendations and you should contact an experienced professional engineer to thoroughly study your particular situation. We are talking of a $2 million dollars or higher treatment plant depending of your local construction costs. I hope this helps.
