Does anyone know of any examples of urban water utilities that reuse/recycle near 100 percent of their wastewater/sewerage? A contact to would be great.
Many thanks
Stuart

We are working on such a system in our laboratory at Pittsburgh,PA).
We treat the water coming from the shower and washing machine with advanced treatment technologies with a system we designed. Since our aim is to obtain high quality water as possible, we conduct tests to recycle water 100%. In addition, minimum discharge is also important for us. Because we take the Sustainability Goals into consideration and try to adapt to Goal 6 in advance. We contacted you, if you wish, we can talk about the experiences we have gained as a result of the tests in our project.
For this aim, I kindly request you to share your email address with us.
I know Abu Dhabi - UAE and Muscat - Oman they recycle all collected wastewater and reuse majority of it for landscape irrigation. If you indicate what exact information you want, we might can assist.
Try Zimbabwe and more closely the Bulawayo city. It is a good example but i dont have the address of the water utility firm who are in charge of the operations. you can goggle and get a contact
Many cities in the Middle East recycle much or all of their wastewater. Suggest you look at Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company. https://www.adssc.ae/en-us/Pages/default.aspx. They are regulated by the government energy and water regulator RSB.
Pumping station assets need to be rated. Those which are poorly situated due to neglect of site specific alternative reuse/disposal investigations/feasibilities and planning need to be revisited. I can provide more info if needed. http://www.cityengineering.co.za
I just don't have the time but it will require an integration over time and an integration over falling head and Bernoullis equation. Should be fairly easy. When you have the equation use Wolframalpha.com to solve it. Remember that inflow will retard "H"
Please check the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company website (www.adssc.ae) and send them a query from there. They have a Whatsapp and an email service on the website.
Parker Colorado has a system that some of their wastewater effluent is processed through a Trojan up flow clarifier/ sand filter and used to recharge the aquifer.
For domestic wastewater, all wastewater in the UAE is almost 100% recycled for landscapes all over Dubai, you can easily find this in internet search 2- As for industrial waste water, I have many small plants with a category of 20-40 m3/d , for example a pharmaceutical factory + disinfection products we treat the IWW as biological + chemical + biological ... The water was used to irrigate landscapes and trees ( fruit not to eat)
I will second Naples Florida and Collier County Florida in the US as being above 90% in their water reuse program, which is constantly expanding. A recent report:
As technology continues to advance toward a true Permaculture society, I recommend going here: https://www.epa.gov/water-innovation-tech/examples-innovation-water-sector The answer for your exact question can take many directions. If you are preparing a wastewater system, I recommend that you contact either personally some of the cities sighted in these report. Advertising of what a facilities is working toward, will always be at the forefront of their statements.
With so many variables in every urban water reuse system, this is a big moving target.
I keep looking as I am more focused on smaller systems and wells IGE for single houses also. Imagine having a complete waste water/drinking water system for SFR homes where close to 100% is also attained. Once a small system is working properly, it may be easier to ramp it up.
Larger utilities have so many more challenges with so many people flushing prescription drugs, other drugs as well as caustic chemicals down the drain.
I applaud your direction and look forward to your progress as well as I am available on a limited basis on your Journey to truly creating the systems that you search for!
