A good option for testing you suggested Sushant Kumar. This is an activated glass filter and an activated carbon filter. In this case, you yourself can make activated glass.
You can try Activated glass media Filter of Dryden Aqua, UK. Discuss with them , ask for their help ,send them sample for conducting trial at their lab. If successfully done, you can buy a filter for its 10 years or more life usage without replacement of media. You can go through case studies published on Dryden aqua website for further clarification.
Activated glass media has very high surface area and NSF certified for drinking purpose use. It is a low cost solution without any chemical addition. Check with them of they could be of help. For further clarification and best output result I insist to add installation of Activated carbon filter.
First take lab trial, If you don't get your problem sorted out with the above mentioned please write to me. I have another solution as well.
Thank you very much. How cost effective is it? I would like also to know about other alternatives so that I can compared in terms of costs and efficiency.
Filtration with bone char media is effective for lead and cadmium and I have used it on a source originating from some old mine workings. I don't know whether it would be effective with chlordane however That may require an additional step, such as GAC. I don't expect that GAC would get the metals out however.
Have you considered membrane distillation? Up until now membrane distillation has only been practiced in a laboratory setting. Markel's Eclipse Membranes PTFE Hollow Fiber Membrane Technology is enabling the membrane distillation to become a viable commercial option. hello, mr. Mwamba, I am very surprises why the drinking water resource in including the Lead ? because this kind of water resource is prohibited in many countries. of course, for lead, cadmium and chlordane, it can be removed through the RO system and colophony filtering system together, if possible, please kindly let us know more details so that our professional engineer can give you suggestion.
please tell me you water resource analysis details, and your request for the production water . i will let engineer will help you after they analyss details data . you can mail me at hardymachine@hotmail.com or call me at +86-135-858-92533, +86-158-023-30364.
you know removing the lead, cadmium and chlordane is just a easy things through the filter system, but, at the same time, we must thinking of your local standard for the drinking water. because if just thinking of removing the lead, cadmium and chlordane, we can filtering the water resource as the pure-water or distilling water. for drinking water. we must thinking of more.
Hi Mwamba, I hope you can find an alternative to chlordane soon - it is an insecticide that is now prohibited in many countries. Being an organo-chloride complex, you could remove it with activated carbon (either powdered or with a granular activated carbon filter column). AC can also remove heavy metals - but you need to check with the suppliers if the brand they supply can absorb heavy metals. Not sure why you want to remove chlorides, you should also let us know what the associated cations are (probably sodium, but could be potassium, calcium or magnesium?). This may affect your removal options. Ion exchange can be considered.
I had very nice results with the use of a specific zeolite for the removal of the heavy metals, 25,9mg/g for the cadmium. The chlorine removal can be obtained by adding our EcoClearProx, A 100% biodegradable hydrogen peroxide which is approved for drinking water application for humans. send me your email address to send some info.
You ask to remove lead, cadmium, chloride in your topic...however, you then mention chlordane. Please clarify and provide a complete water analysis of the source water.
We are pleased to assist and introduce you to your nearest Authorized Aquathin Dealer.
Awaiting your advice and warmest regards,
